Welcome to WonderWeave
I'm a solo hobbyist with an engineering background, not a professional artist or a longtime gamer. I build 2D character sprite assets — sprite sheets, portrait/expression sets, and related art — for indie game developers, visual novel creators, and interactive media projects.
This started as a personal project: I wanted to use AI to help tell illustrated stories to my own kids and my nieces and nephews, and kept running into the same problem — keeping a character looking consistent from one image to the next. I built a pipeline to solve that for myself, and it's grown from there. Somewhere along the way I've started wondering if I might try building a small game of my own someday — so in a lot of ways, I'm on the same journey as the people I'm making these assets for.
My packs are generated using AI models, disclosed accordingly on every page, run through a pipeline I built to keep a character's proportions, linework, and outfit consistent across full-body and portrait/expression sets. I'm always testing and improving this, and I take feedback from real use seriously — if something doesn't line up in your engine, please tell me.
A few practical notes:
- Assets are sold as-is, and typically won't be modified per individual request.
- I don't take custom art commissions.
- I do read and welcome comments on my pages — bug reports, engine compatibility notes, and general feedback are genuinely useful to me, even if I can't always reply right away.
Thanks for checking out my work.
FAQ
Are these assets made with AI?
Yes. I use an AI-based generation pipeline, and every page is tagged with itch.io's Generative AI disclosure (Graphics) so you know exactly what you're getting before downloading.
Can I use these in a commercial game?
Yes. Every package includes a royalty-free commercial license. You can use the characters in any commercial or non-commercial project. The one thing you can't do is redistribute the raw asset files standalone (e.g., reselling the pack itself).
Do I need to credit WonderWeave?
No credit is required, though it's always appreciated if you want to mention it.
What engines have these been tested with?
I've tested formatting in Godot, Unity, and RPG Maker. If you try it in something else, I'd love to hear how it goes.
What file formats do I get?
PNG-24 with 8-bit alpha (32-bit total), sRGB color profile. Overworld sheets are on 48x48px grids; portrait/expression sheets are on 512x512px canvases, aligned to the same baseline.
Is the Free Sampler Vault really free, no catch?
Yes — no email signup, no time limit. It's there so you can test the grid alignment risk-free before deciding if the full packs are useful to you.
I found a bug or the grids don't line up in my engine — what do I do?
Please leave a comment on the relevant page with your engine and version. I read every comment, even if I can't always reply quickly.
Who's behind WonderWeave?
I'm not a professional game artist or a longtime gamer — my background is engineering. This project started as a way to tell more consistent illustrated stories to my own kids and nieces/nephews, and grew into something I thought might help other people building games too.
